27 Fév Damon Albarn star des NME Awards

Hier soir se déroulaient les NME Awards à la Brixton Academy de Londres. Arctic Monkeys rafle 5 titres, Sir Paul McCartney repart avec le NME du « Songwriters’ Songwriter » et Damon Albarn qui reçoit également un titre en a profité pour nous dévoiler quelques secrets.

Albarn reçoit hier soir (26 février) aux NME Awards le prix de l’Award For Innovation et en profite pour remercier le journal malgré qu’il en était effrayé étant jeune ! Il se soucie toujours de savoir ce que le premier journal musical britannique pense de lui.

« NME terrified me when I was younger. They were the second people, after Sounds, to write about Blur. It meant so much to me when that happened. Most of you in this room don’t know that there was a world before the internet. There was NME and there was Top Of The Pops. That was it. If I’m honest I still really care what NME thinks of me. Thank you all, I really appreciate this, cheers. »

Il annonce également qu’il souhaiterait donner un Award for Innovation à Richard Russel, son collaborateur dans son album solo qui sortira prochainement.

Mais il n’en reste pas là et fait la déclaration de la soirée en annonçant que Blur a enregistré ensemble 15 nouvelles chansons. Cependant il ne serait pas question d’un nouvel album pour le moment.

Damon Albarn parle au NME du nouveau matériel de Blur.

En attendant un potentiel 8è album de Blur, Damon Albarn sortira son premier opus en solo le 28 avril prochain et s’intitulera Everyday Robots. Il partira ensuite en tournée avec notamment deux dates intimes à Londres et une à Paris (5mai à l’Alhambra) avant les festivals d’été.
