05 Sep Oasis explain themselves regarding dynamic pricing
With high prices that increased throughout the day, this sale of Oasis’s tour tickets seems to have somewhat spoiled the celebration of their comeback. That’s why, on September 4th, the band decided to speak out.
A few days ago, we told you about the sale of Oasis tickets. It didn’t go as planned. Since then, many memes have circulated about it. Additionally, all the media outlets have picked up the story. This issue of ‘dynamic pricing’ has even reached the ears of the British government. They are considering a law to prevent this from happening again. However, while this practice is considered insulting to fans, it’s surprising that it is only now causing reactions. After all, other artists like Taylor Swift and Pearl Jam use the same methods.
Faced with these controversies, the band remained silent. But the situation hasn’t improved. The image of the Gallagher brothers has also taken a hit. The band has always claimed to represent the working class. Moreover, in recent years, Liam Gallagher has called himself ‘the man of the people.’ He displayed this in his Twitter bio and on stage at every concert. His tweets, especially those from 2017, insulted his brother for selling tickets at 350 dollars. Yet, last week, some Oasis tickets were sold for over 500 euros. Naturally, fans feel betrayed and don’t understand the situation
That’s why, on September 4th, the band tried to make amends by announcing two new dates, prioritizing disappointed fans. They also released a brief statement that said the following:
« It should be noted that the band leaves decisions regarding ticketing and pricing to their promoters and management, and at no point were they aware that dynamic pricing would be used. All parties involved did their best to offer fans the best possible experience, but due to unprecedented demand, this proved impossible to achieve. However, this ticketing strategy will make the process much smoother for fans by reducing stress and the time required to secure one of the most sought-after tickets of our time. »
They also mentioned that this was a ‘small step‘ toward making amends with the fans. We can assume they have other ideas in the works. So, stay tuned.
